Planet Hollywood Las Vegas: Is it still worth it?

“Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is a lively, entertainment-focused hotel-casino on the center of the Las Vegas Strip, owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment. It sits at 3667 S. Las Vegas Blvd in Paradise, Nevada—between Paris Las Vegas and The Cosmopolitan, directly across from the Bellagio fountains—making it a strong base for walking the central Strip. History and Theme The site was home to the original Aladdin (opened 1966; Elvis and Priscilla Presley married there in a quick 1967 ceremony). That property was demolished, and a new Aladdin opened in 2000 before financial troubles led to bankruptcy. Planet Hollywood International (with Starwood) acquired it and completed a major renovation and rebrand, reopening as Planet Hollywood in 2007. Rooms received further updates around 2017. The Hollywood/celebrity theme is relatively subtle rather than fully immersive—think modern glam, film memorabilia in public spaces and rooms, and an energetic “A-lister” vibe rather than over-the-top movie sets. Rooms and Accommodations The single-tower resort has roughly 2,496 rooms and suites (about 2,265 standard rooms + 231 suites) across about 39 floors. Standard “Ultra Hip” rooms typically measure 430–450 sq ft; larger Ultra Resort rooms and various suites are available. Many offer Strip, fountain, or other views. Design is contemporary with bold accents, modern furnishings, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges in many rooms, and Hollywood-inspired touches. Categories include patio/cabana-style rooms that open toward the pool area. Casino The casino floor is energetic and mid-sized (sources cite roughly 68,600–100,000+ sq ft). It features hundreds to around 1,000 slot machines and about 80–86 table games, plus a Caesars Sportsbook. The “Pleasure Pit” area includes table games with go-go dancers for a livelier atmosphere. There is no dedicated poker room in recent years. Caesars Rewards is the loyalty program. Entertainment A major draw is live entertainment: PH Live** (also referred to historically as Zappos or Bakkt Theater)—a roughly 7,000-seat venue for major concerts and residencies. Dedicated theaters for Criss Angel MINDFREAK and Chippendales. Additional shows and smaller theaters in the connected Miracle Mile Shops (variety, tributes, comedy, etc.). The lineup rotates; recent and ongoing options have included magic, music residencies, comedy, and headliners. Dining Options range from celebrity-chef spots to casual and quick bites. Notable ones include Gordon Ramsay Burger, Strip House (steakhouse), Caramella (Italian), Café Hollywood, Yolo’s Mexican Grill, Earl of Sandwich, Pin-Up Pizza, P.F. Chang’s, and Starbucks. More restaurants and a food court are available in the attached mall. There is also a spa and various bars/lounges (including speakeasy-style spots). Shopping and Amenities The resort has seamless indoor access to Miracle Mile Shops, a large 1.2-mile looping indoor mall with 150–170+ stores (mid-market brands like H&M, Sephora, Victoria’s Secret, etc.), restaurants, bars, free effects shows, and additional entertainment venues. It’s practical and climate-controlled rather than ultra-luxury. Other amenities include: Scene Pool Deck** (rooftop, roughly 6th floor): two seasonal pools (one all-ages, one 21+), cabanas, loungers, and the FlowRider freestanding wave machine for surfing. Planet Hollywood Spa by Mandara (large facility with treatment rooms). Fitness center. Meeting/convention space (around 88,000 sq ft). Atmosphere and Overall Vibe Planet Hollywood delivers a high-energy, entertainment-forward experience with a modern Hollywood pop-culture edge. It appeals to people who want central-Strip convenience, easy access to shows and shopping, a lively casino, and solid value compared with some pricier neighbors. It can involve longer walks due to the mixed-use layout and is less of a quiet luxury retreat. Resort fees apply (as is standard on the Strip), and the pool area gets busy in season. In short, it’s a convenient, action-oriented mid-to-upper mid-tier Strip resort that packs casino play, major entertainment, dining, and shopping into one central location.
