LAS VEGAS, USA FLASH FLOODS: 1 DEAD, 3 SWIFT-WATER RESCUES | Streets Turn Into Rivers

“#LasVegasFlooding #FlashFlood #Nevada Flash floods have hit Las Vegas again. Streets turned into rivers, cars were left stranded, and one person has died. Heavy rain and hail flooded parts of the Las Vegas Valley on Friday, October 30. The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings covering Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, the Strip area, Paradise, UNLV, Henderson, and Lake Las Vegas, with up to an inch of rain falling in some places and half an inch in just 30 minutes. In Henderson, firefighters carried out three swift-water rescues in the early afternoon. One person pulled from a wash near Lake Mead Parkway died after the rescue. Flooding closed down roads across the valley. Two cars were left stranded and partly submerged at Eastern Avenue and Interstate 11, and local reporters described the intersection of Stewart Avenue and Pecos Road as basically a river. In another part of town, a woman was rescued from a car stalled in floodwater that covered McLeod Drive. This is the second major flood in the valley this month, after the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel brought record rainfall on October 11. If you are in the area, never drive through flooded roads. Turn around, don’t drown, because most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
