LAS VEGAS SLAMMED by HAIL & FLASH FLOODING — Airport Ground Stop, 4,000+ Without Power

“Hail and flash flooding hit Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada, on Friday afternoon, Nevada Day. The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings that named the Strip and Fremont Street, hail up to ping-pong ball size was reported near Sahara Avenue and Boulder Highway, and parts of Henderson got more than an inch of rain after noon. Lightning forced a ground stop at Harry Reid International Airport and more than 4,000 NV Energy customers lost power. The moisture came from the remains of former Hurricane Vance, and forecasters expect an atmospheric river to bring more rain to the Southwest on Sunday.
