Las Vegas kidnappings/abductions rise more than 40% in 2026

“Data from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police revealed a sharp increase in kidnapping and abduction reports so far this year. Metro police reported more than 150 kidnapping or abduction cases as of May 24, compared with 108 reported during the same period last year, a roughly 42 percent increase. Under Nevada law, kidnapping can include a wide range of situations involving a person being taken, detained or moved against their will. State statute defines kidnapping as unlawfully seizing, confining, abducting, concealing, or carrying away a person for purposes including ransom, robbery, sexual assault, substantial bodily harm or other crimes.
