Las Vegas Is BEGGING Tourists To Come Back. It’s Already Too Late.

“Las Vegas is begging. A hundred and eighty deals and up to 60% off hotel rooms, for the second year in a row. And the people it’s begging are still saying no. The city ran this same sale last fall. Visitors kept falling anyway, straight through a December that was down 9%. This August, hotels cut their rates more than 7% and Las Vegas still lost more than 4% of its visitors. The year that was supposed to be the comeback is now running behind last year. This video goes through a Las Vegas news broadcast about the sale, and the broadcast makes the case against itself. An economist at the city’s own university admits the Strip can’t live on the top 1% forever. He describes the teaser rate and the hundred-dollar fee that follows it. A historian says paid parking made visitors angrier than anything else in his career. The tourists on camera are happy, and the city needs far more of them than it’s getting. Las Vegas spent ten years pushing the regular tourist out the door. Now it wants him back at 60% off, with the resort fee still on the bill and the parking meter still running. He didn’t leave over the price of the room. He left because the price was never the real price.”
