“Indian travel YouTuber Passenger Paramvir said he and his friend were subjected to racial stereotypes during an encounter with a group of livestreamers in Las Vegas. One man allegedly asked whether they worked at 7-Eleven and offered Paramvir a $12-an-hour job, which he interpreted as a stereotype about Indians and other South Asians. Paramvir responded, “You can’t afford me,” before taking a jab at the man’s jewellery. He later explained the context in his YouTube video, saying the encounter reflected a stereotype that associates Indians and other South Asians with convenience-store and similar jobs.
