Family remembers loved one killed in Las Vegas shooting

“A family is mourning 31-year-old Brandan Lucas after he was shot and killed at a Five Below store, remembering him as a happy, hardworking man who loved being around the people closest to him. “Every time we see him, he’s just always so happy to see you, always gives you a big hug, always nice, always calm with us; we just always had a good time; it’s just crazy to know that now all of our family events, he won’t be here,” Shekiera Wright, Lucas’ cousin, said. Wright said she moved to Las Vegas with her family, including Lucas, to start fresh. Wednesday afternoon, Wright said she pulled into the Five Below parking lot in the Best in the West shopping center and found a crime scene. She said she went to find her family and began asking what had happened. “I found my family and just started asking questions, ‘where is he, what’s going on,’ so I found a cop or two and asked them, and they told me ‘oh we can’t tell you anything other than he’s being worked on right now’,” Wright said.
