The Strat marks 30 years on the Las Vegas Strip with 90s themed party

“The Strat has towered over Las Vegas for three decades, becoming one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and a major anchor for the north end of the Strip. The 1,149-foot-tall Stratosphere opened its doors on this day in 1996, helping connect downtown Las Vegas, the Arts District and the Gateway District to the north end of the Strip. For some nearby business owners, the tower is both a symbol and a steady draw for customers. “I wanted to be in front of the Strat. That was one of my goals,” said Diana Valdez, who runs a small business on Main Street. Valdez said the landmark is part of her daily routine. “We take pictures of it in the morning. We take pictures of it in the evening,” she said. She also credits the foot traffic it brings to the area. “A lot of people like to walk all the way down until Main Street. So yeah, we get a lot of the people that just day drink and and have fun here,” Valdez said. In the Arts District, Karina Carancho said the Strat helps customers find her clothing store.
