“Imagine spending nearly $5 billion to build one of the wildest new landmarks in Las Vegas. The new Hard Rock Las Vegas is taking architecture and engineering to another level with a massive 42-story guitar tower rising 660 feet into the sky. The building is designed as a literal giant guitar, making it one of the most unusual skyscraper projects ever attempted on the Las Vegas Strip. But building a structure like this is very different from building a normal tower. A typical skyscraper rises straight up with similar floor layouts. This building has to widen and narrow as it rises to create the curves of a real guitar, meaning the floors and structure have to change along the way. The original concept was even more ambitious, with plans for a nearly 1,000-foot-tall guitar tower. That proposal was eventually rejected, and the final design was scaled down to around 660 feet. Construction began in 2024, and the project is expected to open in 2027. When completed, the guitar will become part of a massive new entertainment destination, combining bold architecture, structural engineering, custom design, and large-scale lighting technology. At night, the entire guitar is designed to light up, while six powerful beams will shoot roughly 20,000 feet into the Las Vegas sky, creating one of the most dramatic lighting displays on the Strip.
