Las Vegas community prepares to honor fallen police Officer Austin Abdelnabi

“Family, friends, fellow law enforcement officers and members of the Las Vegas community will gather Friday to honor the life and legacy of fallen Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Austin Abdelnabi. Abdelnabi, 30, was shot and killed Aug. 4 while responding to a call about a person with a gun. A second Metro officer who arrived shortly after the shooting captured the gunfire on his body-worn camera as shots rang out towards officer Abdelnabi. Detectives say the suspect’s gunfire struck Abdelnabi eight times. One round struck his ballistic vest before entering his neck, while another hit his arm and traveled into his chest. Other rounds struck his vest, handcuff case, pepper spray, firearm base plate, and body-worn camera. Abdelnabi was a former Marine and dedicated his career to serving his community as a Metro officer.
