Questions raised about Nevada open carry laws after Las Vegas Metro officer is killed

“Despite surveillance video showing Lindsey wearing a mask while carrying a firearm in public before the August 4 shootout with police, Las Vegas attorney Joseph Gersten of The Gersten Law Firm says simply carrying a visible firearm, even while wearing a mask, is not illegal under Nevada law. “There are no laws whatsoever; state, county or municipality level about maintaining a firearm and having a mask, nothing that says that is illegal.” It was just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, when Las Vegas Metro Police (LVMPD) responded to reports of a man waving a firearm near Tropicana and Mountain Vista Street.
