Heat-related deaths, ambulance calls surge amid extreme temperatures in Las Vegas Valley
“As temperatures climb, Clark County is already seeing a rise in deaths tied to extreme heat this year. The Clark County Coroner’s Office reported 46 heat-related deaths so far this year. Of those, 41 heat-related deaths have been confirmed and five additional cases are pending. The ages of the victims range from 28 to 84. AMR|Medic West representatives said the local ambulance company has seen an increase in emergency calls over the last two weeks, coinciding with a sharp uptick in near-record temperatures. The company is responding to about 30 more calls than usual during that period, with heat illness and burn injuries cited as two of the main drivers.
