Las Vegas tourists face extreme UV index, raising sunburn and heat illness risk

“Las Vegas’ summer heat is drawing tourists to town this weekend, but health experts are warning that the sun and high temperatures can become dangerous quickly. The UV index in Las Vegas has hit level 12 in recent days, an extreme level that increases the risk of sunburn and blistering, along with heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Symptoms can start within 10 to 15 minutes of sun exposure. Even a UV level of about 6 can lead to sunburn.
